Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that wing-back Reece James suffered a hamstring injury. After being substituted in Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.

         The England international was substituted off the pitch in the 27th minute of the game after team doctors determined. He could not continue playing with Marcos Alonso coming on.

         When asked about James’ injury, the German boss said: “Don’t make any predictions. It’s a pain in the Achilles tendon. We don’t have a full-back anymore.  Everyone hurts It was a serious injury. (during the game)”

         “We knew it would be a difficult game against a strong team. They are well prepared. it is always like this I haven’t seen any team playing well against Brighton, obviously we struggle. We have players that we don’t know what we can demand from them , too much. ”

         “We’ve always had injuries.  They came back from covid I just don’t know what they can do. It’s too much, that’s why I can understand when you play against Brighton with nothing to lose and playing with confidence. So you have to overcome difficult times.”

Asked if the Blues can still compete for the title, Tuchel replied: ‘How should we be in it? We have seven Covid cases. We have five or six players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race?

‘Everyone else who has a full squad, everybody in training has the full power to come through this league.
