Former Chelsea midfielder Tony Cascarino believes Jadon Sancho is just average after watching the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.
The England star started the latest game at Stamford Bridge and Cascarino revealed he was there specifically to watch Sancho but failed to impress.
“I went to the game at Stamford Bridge specifically to watch Jadon Sancho and he was not bad,” Cascarino told The Times. “No big mistakes, everything was fine. He made short passes, accurate, nothing to complain about or pundits to criticise.”
“But he’s playing for Chelsea – a club with high expectations from the players, especially the forwards. To do as basic as he does is a problem.”
“The truth is he doesn’t give Forest right-back Ola Aina any trouble. Of course, Sancho is a good player and his touch is always good, but his play is a bit old-fashioned.”
“He never used his strength against Aina and สมัคร ufabet never tried to dribble past him. Sancho is not a slow player but he doesn’t have the pace to attack defenders.”
Sancho has started his Chelsea career in fine form, with three assists in his first three Premier League games. He’s looked bright and inventive as the Blues won three straight games.
But Forest held them to a draw, and Sancho is an easy target for criticism after a negative result because he doesn’t sprint or charge at his man, hence Cascarino’s column and many, many Man Utd fans on social media laughing at Sancho’s expense that criticism has started after “just” four games.
